Obituary of Thomas Williamson

Mr. Thomas Boyd Williamson, 75, of Benoit, MS passed away on Saturday, March 18, 2017 at his home. Visitation will be held at 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Monday, March 20, 2017, at Ray Funeral Home. Celebration of Life Services will immediately follow beginning at 1:30 p.m. Monday, March 20, 2017, at Ray Funeral Home with Brother John Read and Brother Robert Haney officiating. Interment will be in Beulah Cemetery.

Mr. Williamson was born on May 31, 1941, to G.L. Williamson and Leona Williamson in Prentiss, MS. On June 8, 1963, he married Bertha Irby in Rosedale, MS. Mr. Williamson proudly served in the Army in the Vietnam War and then worked as the town maintenance supervisor for 25 years. He was also a part of the Benoit Fire Department, Bolivar County Civil Defense, Bolivar County Fire Department, and served a Sunday School teacher and Deacon at the Southside Baptist church in Benoit, MS.

He is preceded in death by his parents, G.L. Williamson and Leona Williamson; his beloved wife, Bertha Williamson; and brother, Edward LaRue Williamson.

Mr. Williamson is survived by his sons, Chuck Williamson (Jackie) of Cleveland, MS and Jackie Williamson (Kim) of Gautier, MS; brother, Bobby Neal Williamson; grandchildren, Hamp Williamson of Cleveland, MS, Emileigh Williamson of Cleveland, MS, Merry Elizabeth Williamson of Cleveland, MS, Joanna Williamson of Gautier, MS, Kristianna Williamson of Gautier, MS; step-grandaughter, Kyra Blair; cousin, James Jones; and; and special caregiver, Frances Hudson.

Pallbearers will be Bobby Williamson, Brian Williamson, Hamp Williamson, Bubba Bailey, Robert Kittrell, and Lane Jenkins.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made out to the Southside Baptist Church in Benoit, MS or the Gideons International.
