Mr. Albert Scott Day, Jr., 85, of Gunnison, passed away March 19, 2013 at the Veterans Home in Oxford. Visitation will be 1:00-2:00 p.m. Friday, March 22, 2013, at Gunnison United Methodist Church. Memorial Services will immediately follow beginning at 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 22, 2013, at Gunnison United Methodist Church with Reverend Diane Elliott officiating.
Mr. Day was born in Gunnison on January 31, 1928, to Albert Scott Day, Sr. and Myrtle Williams Day. He proudly served our country in the United States Navy during the WWII era. On May 20, 1956, he married Ann Carol Williams in Cleveland, MS. Mr. Day was a farmer and loved spending time at his cabin on Donaldson Point Hunting Club. He was a member of Gunnison United Methodist Church, and served on the Bolivar County Board of Education, Bayou Academy School Board, and was an Election Commissioner. He was also a past member of the Lions Club and the Rotary Club.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Albert Scott Day, Sr. and Myrtle Williams Day.
Mr. Day is survived by his wife of 56 years, Ann Day of Gunnison; son, Scott Day of Greenville, SC; daughter, Carol Cascio (Joe) of Oxford, MS; and grandchildren, Joseph Cascio, Jr. of Birmingham, AL, Meredith Cascio of Oxford, MS, and Madison Cascio of Oxford, MS.
