Albert Gordon

Mr. Albert Eugene (Gene) Gordon, 81, of Cleveland, MS, passed away in Tupelo, MS, Tuesday, June 21, 2011. Visitation will be Thursday, June 23, 2011 at Ray Funeral Home from 6:00- 8:00 p.m.. Celebration of life service will be Friday, June 24, 2011 at Calvary Baptist Church at 11:00 a.m. with Bro. Milton Whatley officiating.
Mr. Gordon was born in Litton, MS to Albert Dalton Gordon and Cora Lee Bailey Matthews on January 16, 1930. He married Agnes Douglas on December 31, 1951 in Jackson, MS. He served 20 years in the U.S. Navy as the chief petty officer and also served as combat Korean veteran and Vietnam veteran . He worked for D&L and Duo Fast. Gene drove cars for Enterprise and Kossmans's Inc.
He is survived by his wife, Agnes Gordon of Cleveland, MS; son, Sammy Gordon of Tupelo, MS; daughters, Debbie Ballard (Sam) of Slidell, LA, and Dot Johnson of Tupelo, MS; grandchildren, Amber Gordon, Darby Gordon, Ken Ray Woods (Kaleigh) of Poplarville, MS, Chuck Woods (Claudia) of Cleveland, MS, Jason Woods (Camille) of Cleveland, Cody Woods (Mimi) of Merigold, MS, Wes Tackett (Lauren) of Hoover, AL, Ray Tackett (Andrea) of Tupelo, MS, Ryan Tackett of Tupelo, MS, Russell Tackett (Jessica) of Tupelo, MS; step-grandchildren, Carrie Hicks and Matt Turner; seventeen great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be grandsons, Ken Ray Woods, Chuck Woods, Jason Woods, Cody Woods, Wes Tackett, Ray Tackett, Ryan Tackett, and Russell Tackett
Memorials may be sent to the American Diabetes Association and American Heart Association.
