Alene Coats Carpenter

Mrs. Alene Carpenter, 81, of Cleveland, MS passed away peacefully on May 27, 2023.  A visitation will be held in her honor on Saturday, June 3, 2023 from 1:00 P.M. until 2:00 P.M. at Ray Funeral Home with a Memorial Service to begin at 2:00 P.M.. A graveside service will follow at the Linn Methodist Cemetery.

Alene was born on January 13, 1942 to Rodge Coats and Nell Virdie Hicks in Doddsville, MS.  At an early age, Alene and her family moved to Arkansas where she was raised, along with her siblings, by her mother Nell and her stepfather, Sidney Jackson Sr.. After she finished school, she moved back to Mississippi where she met the Love of her Life, Henry Carpenter Sr..  The two married on February 24, 1962.  She worked for many years as an assembly line worker until she retired to become a homemaker.  Alene was an avid racing fan who loved to watch game shows and play games, especially Bingo.  She was full of joy and loved to sing and dance.  Most of all, though, she adored spending time with her family, whom she loved dearly.

Alene is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Henry Carpenter, Sr., her parents Sidney Jackson, Sr. and Nell Jackson, and her children Henry Carpenter Jr., James Carpenter, and Sandra Carpenter.  She is also preceded in passing by her daughter-in-law Cheryll Carpenter, her siblings Sidney Jackson Jr., Mattie Jane Shaw, Shirl Jackson, Buddy Jackson, and Gladys Coats as well as two infant grandchildren.
