Mrs. Frances Amelia Turpin Beckham, 100, of Cleveland, passed away Friday, May 17, 2013, at Bolivar Medical Center. Visitation will be 1:00 p.m. - 2:30 p.m. Monday, May 20, 2013, at Covenant Presbyterian Church. Celebration of Life Services will begin at 3:00 p.m. at the Covenant Presbyterian Church with Rev. Tim Starnes Officiating. Interment will be in Shaw Cemetery.
Mrs. Beckham was born in Shaw, MS on February 17, 1913, to Milton Larkin Turpin and Draper Love Turpin. She married Clarence Leon "C.L." Beckham on December 31, 1933, in Shaw, MS. She graduated Delta State University in 1934. She worked as a clerk for the United States Post office for 25 years. She was also the homemaker for her family and a devoted mother. She loved her family dearly and enjoyed taking care of them and encouraging them. She enjoyed playing bridge. She was also a member of the Covenant Presbyterian Church.
Mrs. Beckham is survived by her children, Frances Clare Beckham (Lewis) Luke of Madison, MS, and Buck Beckham (Marie) of Shaw, MS; grandchildren, Lisa (Robert) Sledge of Sunflower, Clarence L. Beckham "Lee" III (Joanne) of Alexandria, VA, Blair Floyd of Cleveland, MS, Ame Berry (Forrest) of Flowood, MS, Beth O'Brien of Ridgeland, MS, Margaurite Travis (John) of Madison, MS, and Mary Hoover (Jessie) of Madison, MS; 17 great-grandchildren; and 6 great-great-grandchildren.
