Mrs. Martha Ann Grittman, 91, of Cleveland, MS went to be with the Lord Thursday, October 7, 2021. A visitation will be held 1:30 to 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 9, 2021 at Drew Methodist Church with a Memorial Service immediately following.
Ann graduated from Delta State Teachers College with a degree in education. She was a teacher for over 40 years, where she taught many children mostly 1st grade at AW James elementary and North Sunflower Academy both in Drew, MS and PDS. Ann was always happy and smiling and lived by the motto "You should grow where you are planted". Ann loved to entertain friends and family. She was a dedicated member of Drew Methodist Church. Ann was a member of Drew Culture Club and the Bridge Club in Drew where they played every week. She also loved to cook and chaired the production of "The Pick of the Crop" cookbook where she cooked all the recipes herself to make sure they were the best of the best. She spent many hours in fellowship with a group known as the Coffee Club. They met at the Methodist Church every afternoon.
She is predeceased by husband, Howard L Grittman; and brother, Frank Farrish. Ann is survived by her sons, James Allan Grittman (Cindy) and John Fred Grittman (Letitia); grandchildren, Anna McClain Grittman (Dalton), Laura Lee Grittman and Braden Southards; great grandchild, John Grittman Sykes; and sister Jane Dunlap.
