Ann James Harkins, 78, a resident of Crystal Healthcare and Rehabilitation in Greenwood, MS, went to meet her Lord and Savior on Sunday, January 27, 2013. Private Services were held on January 31, 2013, with Brother Larry Chouccoli officiating. Interment was in New Cleveland Cemetery.
Mrs. Harkins was born in Enid, MS on December 29, 1934. On March 22, 1954, she married Carl Thomas Harkins at Davis Chapel in Cleveland, MS. She and her husband were the owners of Carl T. Harkins Trucking Co., Inc. in Cleveland, MS.
She is preceded in death by her parents, William Ethan James and Ruth Murphree James; her husband, Carl Thomas Harkins; and sister, Georgia Wilson of Ruleville, MS.
Mrs. Harkins is survived by her daughters, Carla Harkins Cassibry (Graham) of Cleveland, and Becky Clinard (Keith); son, Chuck Harkins (Sonya); grandchildren, Nat McKnight (Robin), Clayton Harkins, Kaci Clinard; great grandchildren, Reid McKnight and Rhett McKnight; sisters, Kathleen Sartain of Ruleville, MS, Maxine Stringfellow of Drew, MS, Connie Blackwell of Millington, TN, Nancy Muzzi of Robinsonville, MS; and brothers, Kelly James of Meridian, ID, Mike James of Brandon, MS. Mrs. Harkins also leaves her trusted and faithful caregivers: Ella Mae Means, Mettie Richardson, Mary Bolden, Clemmie T. White and Keisha Williams, all of Memphis, TN and Shirley Porter, Cathy A. Stanley, Sallie McGhee Woods, and Martha Watkins all of Greenwood, MS.
Pallbearers were grandsons and nephews; Clayton Harkins, David Harkins, Larry Harkins, Nat McKnight, Roy Stringfellow and Mitch Wilson.
Memorials can be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation, Smile Train, Women's Resource Center of Cleveland, MS, or a Charity of One's Choice.
