Ann Williams Day

Ann Carol Williams Day, 83, of Gunnison passed away April 10, 2015, at Azalea Gardens Assisted Living Center in Oxford, Mississippi. Visitation will be held Saturday, April 18th at 1:00 PM, at the Gunnison United Methodist Church. Memorial Services will immediately follow beginning at 2:00 PM, with Reverend John Banks of Madison, Mississippi officiating. Ray Funeral Home of Cleveland is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Day was born in Flora, Mississippi on March 1, 1932 to Merton and Jimmie Carolyn Williams of Flora, Mississippi. Ann graduated from Flora High School in the class of 1950. On May 20, 1956, she married Albert Scott Day following her graduation from Delta State Teachers College. During her teaching career she touched the lives of many students at Rosedale High School, Rosedale, Mississippi; Lee Academy, Clarksdale, Mississippi; and West Bolivar Jr. High in Rosedale, Mississippi. She earned a Master's Degree in Education from the University of Mississippi and an MBA from Delta State University. She was an active member and officer of the Daughters of the American Revolution; Gunnison United Methodist Church; and Delta State University Golden Circle Alumni Association. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband of 57 years, Albert Scott Day of Gunnison in 2013.
She is survived by a son, Albert Scott Day (Suzanne Dwelly) of Powdersville, South Carolina; a daughter, Carol Day Cascio (Joe) of Oxford, Mississippi; grandchildren, Meredith and Madison Cascio of Oxford, Mississippi and Joseph Cascio (Sarah) of Birmingham, Alabama; a brother, Merton Williams (Lois) of Clinton, Mississippi; three sisters; Lila Jean Stennett of Marietta Georgia; Becky Williams Bowering (Charles) of Flora, Mississippi; Elizabeth Williams Candreia of Plano, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Special appreciation from the family is given to the hospice staff and caregivers of Mrs. Day. In memory of Mrs. Day, the family requests that donations be made to the Gunnison United Methodist Church, and mailed to 8517 Highway 1, Duncan, MS 38740.
