Aubrey Dean

Aubrey Scott Dean, 69, of McCarley, Mississippi, died Sunday, January 2, 2022, at North Alabama Specialty Hospital in Athens, AL surrounded by his wife and daughters. Scott was a retired game warden, whose love for outdoors and animals was the leading passion in his life. He spent much of his time working on his hunting land and teaching young people these skills. He was always eager to pass his wisdom and knowledge onto anyone interested in hunting, fishing, and conservation. He surrounded himself with hunting dogs, loved watching old western movies, reading, and cooking for his loved ones.He is survived by his wife, Nan Cobb Dean; two daughters, Cherry Smith (Todd) and Elizabeth Brewster Cummings (Clay); one sister, Cynthia Weeks (Jimmy); four grandchildren, Wheeler Brewster, Everett Brewster, Daniel Sims and Lily Sims; a special mother-in-law, Clara Cobb; sister-in-law Lisa Aldridge (Jody); the mother of his children, Beth Wheeler Dean, and numerous very special nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Thelma Dean; a brother, Don Dean, Jr., and a sister, Patricia Dean Ray. Ray Funeral Home of Cleveland, MS is entrusted with arrangements. Funeral services are scheduled for 12:00 p.m., Friday, January 7, at Ray Funeral Home, officiated by Bro. James Breland. Visitation is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home on Friday. His final internment will be in New Albany Cemetery at a later date. Pallbearers will be Wheeler Brewster, Daniel Sims, Scott "Dino" Dean, Totten Foster, Todd Fuller, Tanner Hathcock, Carson Childers, and Michael Dean. Honorary Pallbearers are Everett Brewster, Carter Foster, and Clay Foster. Memorials may be made to the donor's charity of choice. The family wishes to send their sincere gratitude to all of the doctors, nurses, and healthcare workers who cared for Scott in the past year.
