Barry James Kent
Drew, MS
Barry James Kent was called home to be with the Lord on Monday, February 7, 2022. Visitation will be held Saturday, February 12, 2022 from 11-1:00 P.M. at Church of Faith. With a Celebration of Life Memorial Service to follow at 1:00P.M.
Barry was born on November 08, 1961 in Ruleville, MS to Bobby Jene Kent & Catherine O’Neil Williams Kent. February 21, 1981, Barry married his best friend and love of his life from the age of 13, Tenna Rogers, at Walton Chapel Church of God in Minter City, MS. He was a loyal and dedicated employee at Baxter in Cleveland, MS for 20+ years as a Maintenance Technician. He received multiple awards and recognition during his time there, and was blessed with so many opportunities to travel and see so much of the world that, otherwise, would have been out of reach. Barry enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping. He also loved to golf (albeit rather badly). He was an avid go-kart and race car driver. But, first and foremost, he loved spending time with his family and friends. Barry also loved working with his hands, and could fix anything he touched. He was a loving husband, caring father and grandfather, and loyal friend to many.
Barry and Tenna were blessed in their lives with several lifelong friends who have continued to be a large part of their lives. Each of you know who you are, and know Barry left this earth still loving you.
Barry is preceded in passing by his father, Bobby Jene Kent, and his mother, Catherine O’Neil Williams Kent, along with his nephew, Lee Hicks.
Barry is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Tenna Rogers Kent; daughters, Casey Kent Johnson and Anna Christian Kent; son, Wesley Ryan Kent and wife, Heather Kent; grandchildren, Averie Claire Johnson, Matthew Wyatt Johnson, Kailyn Bristol Grissette, Hadley Corbin Grissette, Reese Carter Grissette, Evelyn Porter Hawkins, Mamie Annette Kent, and Cayson James Kent; siblings, Bobby (Bob) Jene Kent and wife, Barbara, Beverly R. Skeen and husband, Joe Skeen (Barry’s Best friend), Cheryl R. Davis and husband, Tim, William (Bubba) Alfred Rogers and life-long family friend, Beth Gladden Kelly; along with a host of aunts, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Over the years, Barry became a father-figure to a large number of young people who still call him “daddy” to this day. They all cannot be listed, but each one of you knows who you are and knew the love Barry had for each of you.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Bolivar Medical Center for the care and support given to Barry and his family during this difficult time. This thanks extends especially to a special lady, Teresa Grissette, who was a constant presence and a shoulder to lean on for Barry and his family. No words could truly express the gratitude and love we have towards her.
