Betsy Bobo Elliott, 69, passed away February 25, 2021. Betsy was born in Cleveland, MS, on September 26, 1951, and Cleveland was her home her entire life. After graduating from Cleveland High School in 1969, she attended Delta State University, was a member of Kappa Delta Sorority, and over the years came to know everyone on campus, forming close relationships too numerous to count. Betsy graduated from Delta State and worked as a recruiter for many years, promoting Delta State wherever she went. She was promoted to Director of Admissions and retired after 35 years, leaving such a strong legacy to DSU and Cleveland that she was the recipient of the Henry Outlaw Retired Faculty/Staff Alumni Service Foundation Award in 2018. Betsy loved people and saw the good in everyone. Her thoughtfulness, along with her gift for making people laugh, brought joy into every life she touched. Everyone who knew her can share "a Betsy story," a memory of laughter or kindness that will sustain her friends and family with memories to last a lifetime. She loved to travel and meet new people, collect antiques and pottery, ride with her husband John on his Harley, and spend time at Moon Lake. She had friends of all ages in every town, and she always made time to stop by for a visit. Betsy is preceded in death by her parents, Elaine and Woodrow Bobo, her sister, Dianne Bobo Bishop, and her brother, Todd Bobo. She is survived by her beloved husband of 37 years, John William Elliott, and her brother, James Dreher Bobo. She also leaves her niece, Lori Bobo Whitfield (Charles), nephews Todd Bobo, Jr., Brian Bobo (Sunni), Beau Gibb (Cambria), Mike Elliott (Paige), and Scott Elliott (Kay), sister-in-law, Nancy Bobo, and brother-in-law Ross Elliott (Mary Ann). A memorial service celebrating Betsy's life will be held March 13, at 1:00 p.m., in the Walter Sillers Coliseum on the Delta State campus. Temperature checks and face coverings will be required, extra's will be at the door if needed. . A scholarship in Betsy's name has been established in her memory at Delta State University.
