Beverly Ann Powell Lance, 73, of Cleveland, passed away Sunday, February 2, 2014, at her home. Visitation will be 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 5, 2014 at First Baptist Church. Celebration of Life services will immediately follow beginning at 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church with Rev. Macklyn Hubble and Rev. Brad Beckwith officiating. Interment will be at Smith Cemetery in Cascilla.
Mrs. Lance was born October 10, 1940, to William Bruce Powell and Wirtie Lee Boyd Powell. On December 20, 1958, in Phillip, she married Gerald Arthur Lance. She taught school for the Bolivar County School District for over 30 years, was a member of First Baptist Church, and was a church volunteer. She also enjoyed reading, gardening, tennis and attending grandchildren's events.
She is preceded in death by her parents, William and Wirtie Powell; husband, Gerald Arthur Lance; and son, Gregory Lance.
Mrs. Lance is survived by her daughter, Laura Lee Connell (Robert Ed) of Cleveland; son Morgan Leslie Lance of Ocean Springs; brother, Robert Bruce Powell of Ocean Springs; four grandchildren, Brent Lance of Cleveland, Ashley Lance of Southaven, Carter Connell and Chase Connell both of Cleveland; and three great-grandchildren, Laiden Lance and Braylen Lance both of Cleveland, and Addisyn Scott Black of Southaven.
Pallbearers will be Craig Duncan, Ray Cothran, Will Powell, Ed Coleman, Steve Pernell, and Louis Fratesi. Honorary pallbearers will be John Duncan, Bruce Stubbs, Gary Lance, and Johnny Arnold.
In honor of Mrs. Lance, memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church in Cleveland.
