Mrs. Birtie Wilcutt, 100, of Merigold, passed away Wednesday, November 6, 2013, at Bolivar Medical Center. Visitation will be held from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Monday, November 11, 2013, at Ray Funeral Home with Celebration of Life services immediately following beginning at 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 11, 2013, at Ray Funeral Home with Bro. Larry Braswell and Bro. Tommy Odell officiating. Interment will be in New Cleveland Cemetery.
Mrs. Wilcutt was born in Steens, MS on November 17, 1913, to Jim Odell and Minnie Lou Odell. She married Roy Wilcutt in 1931 in Fayette, AL. She worked at the hospital as a nurse's aide for many years, and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and loved her church. Momma was real close to her grandchildren that she loved dearly, and they loved her, but the oldest grandchild was Norma Jean Wilcutt, and they had a special bond. She was loved by her family, enjoyed to cook and was great at it and best known for her teacakes and fried apple pies.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Roy Wilcutt; son, Roy C. Wilcutt; brothers, Ben Odell, Monroe Odell, Bill Odell, Ottis Odell, Robert Odell, and Olen Odell; and sisters, Annie M. Hollman, Bertha Kelly, and Jimmy Green.
Mrs. Wilcutt is survived by her daughter, Polly Hawkins (James Roy) of Merigold; son, Bob Wilcutt (Betty) of Batesville; brother, Raymond Odell of Flint, Michigan; 12 Grandchildren; multiple great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews
Pallbearers will be James "Spunky" Hawkins, Billy Ray Kent, Joe Correro, Jamie Mangum, Carl Tarver, Mickey Robison, and Jimmie Kitrell.
In memory of Mrs. Wilcutt, donations may be made to Calvary Baptist Church.
