Mr. Bobby Lee Twiner, 71, passed away on January 20, 2018, at St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson. Previously of Cleveland, he had been a resident of Brandon for the past 20 years. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 23, 2018, at Ray Funeral Home. A second visitation will be from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 24, 2018, at Ray Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life Service will follow beginning at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 24, 2018, at Ray Funeral Home with Rev. Fish Robinson and Chaplain Eugene Wigelsworth officiating. Interment will be in Delta Heights Memorial Garden.
Bobby was born on August 3, 1946, to the late C.E. and Luvenia Twiner. After graduating from Ruleville High School he attended MS Delta Community College. He never was considered to be a "big man" but he was a very gifted athlete lettering in 3 sports at Ruleville High School and going on to play baseball at MDCC. He worked at Baxter in Cleveland for 20 years and went on to work for the MS Department of Corrections where he retired in 2010. Coaching girl's softball was one of his favorite pastimes. He touched the lives of all his players throughout the years. He was an integral part in starting the first softball team at Cleveland High School where he was an assistant to the great Coach Sank Powe.
Bobby dearly loved his family, his pets and the University of Alabama Crimson Tide. He returned to College later in life where he graduated from Delta State University in 1981 with a BS in Social Studies.
Bobby leaves behind his wife of 43 years, Rita Jennings Twiner of Brandon; two daughters Kelly Crocker of Bartlett, TN and Leigh-Ann Welch (Brian) of Brandon. The loves of his life were his granddaughter, Brileigh Paige Welch and grandson, Brantley "Chase" Welch. Bobby also leaves behind a very special family friend, Dee Hardy of Bartlett, TN. He is survived by his sisters, Mary Williams, Ruby Chunn (Jimmy), Jane Ward (Jimmy); and a brother George Twiner (Charlene).
Pallbearers will be Bo Watson, Darren Carroll, Dustin Carroll, Eric Campbell, Tim Allred and John Waller.
In Leiu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the ASPCA or the animal shelter of your choice. You can also say a big "Roll Tide" in his honor.
