Mrs. Bonnie Sue Spencer, 75 of Barney passed away Wednesday, August 8, 2018 at her residence. Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 12, 2018, at Ray Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, August 13, 2018, at Ray Funeral Home. Interment will be in New Cleveland Cemetery.
Mrs. Spencer was born August 25, 1942, to the late J. C. McClure and Pauline Collier McClure. She was a college professor for many years before retiring and was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Moultrie. Mrs. Spencer was the Queen of the Red Bells of Barney Chapter of the Red Hat Society.
Survivors include her husband, Dwight Spencer of Barney; daughters, Carla Spencer of Barney, and Karen (Sol) Summerlin of Barney; grandchildren, Luke Kelly, Jacob Kelly, John Mark Kelly, Isabella Summerlin, and Solomon Summerlin; brother, James (Rene) McClure of Shaw, MS; several nieces & nephews. Mrs. Spencer was preceded in death by her sister, JoAnn Walton, and brother in law, John Walton.
