Mrs Brenda Bennett, age 79, passed away on January 13, 2023.
Brenda was born in Skene, MS to Howard Gordon and Margie Gordon. She graduated from Cleveland High School in 1961. After graduation from high school, Brenda attended Delta State University where she was selected as a member of the famous Delta Belles Dance Team. Brenda married James "Dickie" Bennett of Blaine, MS on August 9, 1964 in Cleveland, MS. Brenda and James were married for 58 which both would say is their greatest accomplishment in life.
Brenda was blessed with two children, Melanie Bennett Devlin and James Grady (Gray) Bennett, Jr. Her pride and joy were her grandchildren, Connor Devlin, Abigail Devlin Hatch, Jackson Devlin, Ella Marie Bennett, Jay Bennett, Emily Loe and Bryson Loe. Brenda's favorite past time was attending her grandchildren's many activities throughout their lives.
An avid collector, Brenda loved collecting antiques, McCarty Pottery, Depression Glass and Roseville Pottery. Brenda's love of these things was inherited from both her mother and father who were also avid collectors. Brenda was blessed to travel abroad in furtherance of her passions. She visited England, Ireland, Scotland and Switzerland to name a few of her favorite places.
Brenda loved her garden and especially her zinnias and hydrangeas which she inherited from both her mother and brother's gardens. She spent a lot of time in her own backyard enjoying the beauty of nature and took pride in her plantings and yard art, especially her McCarty wind chimes.
She was preceded in death by Howard Gordon (Father), Margie Gordon (Mother) and her brother, Billy Gordon. She is survived by her husband, James, her children, Melanie and Gray, their spouses and her grandchildren.
A memorial service and celebration of life for Mrs Brenda Bennett will be held on Saturday, April 8, 2023 at Ray's Funeral Home in Cleveland, MS. Springtime was Brenda's favorite time of year because of the beautiful flowers which bloom each spring in her garden. Her family wishes to celebrate her life during this time of year.
Brenda was a supporter of many children's charities including Palmer's Home for Children and St. Jude's.
