Buck Wong

Buck Hoy Wong passed away peacefully at his home in Daphne, Alabama, on August 18, 2019, at the age of 90.  He is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Yuk-Kay Chow Wong (Elizabeth); daughter, Sally Wong Moore and husband David of Daphne, AL; grandson, Jacob Dawson Moore of Daphne, AL; granddaughter, Katelyn Elizabeth Moore of Daphne, AL; sister, Tai Seto of New York, NY; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his father and mother, Hong Yee and Hau Slui Hai Wong, brother Steve Wee Len Wong, sister Po Kam Jue, and son Bobby Len Wong. 
Buck immigrated to the United States from China in the 1950's with the help of his brother Steve.  He and his wife married in 1966 and then owned and operated Buck Wong Grocery in Rosedale, MS, until their retirement in 1994.  They bought a second home in Daphne, AL, in 2006 to be closer to their grandchildren but also have a residence in Boyle. 
Buck will always be remembered for his huge, infectious smile and jovial disposition.  He was a hard worker with strong work ethic.  Buck enjoyed socializing with others, especially playing mah-jongg and poker.  He also loved to watch old Westerns and catch up on the news reading Chinese newspapers.  He will be dearly missed by his family and friends. 
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, August 25, 2019, at Ray Funeral Home with visitation one hour prior to the service.  Burial will follow at North Cleveland Cemetery.
