Carol Parker

Carol Wofford Parker, 97, of Shaw, passed away at Walter B. Crook in Ruleville, MS, on Thursday, January 10, 2013. Visitation will be 10:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 12, 2013, at Shaw Methodist Church. Celebration of Life Services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 12, 2013, at Shaw Methodist Church with Rev. Nell Maki officiating. Interment will follow in Shaw Cemetery.
Mrs. Parker was born in South Carolina on March 17, 1915, to Samuel Herman Wofford and Chrystel Hill Wofford. In May 1968 she married Dr. Clarence Poe Parker in Woodruff, SC.
Mrs. Parker played the piano for 80 years and loved to garden flowers in her yard. She was married to a Methodist Preacher and took great pride in that fact. She was a music school teacher that also raised two boys and love to read, in fact would read for hours on end.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Samuel Herman Wofford and Chrystel Hill Wofford; husband, Dr. Clarence Poe Parker; son, James "Jim" Turner Parker. She is survived by her son, Johnny Parker (Jane) of Safety Harbor, FL.
Memorials can be made to the Walter B. Crook Nursing Facility, Flowers Manor Nursing Home in Clarksdale, American Heart Association and the American Diabetes Fund.
