Cecilia Malatesta Carloni, 94, died on Saturday, November 19, 2011, at Indywood in Cleveland. Visitation will be Wednesday, November 23, at 10:00 a.m. followed by the Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Shelby, with burial in Shelby Cemetery. Ray Funeral Home in Cleveland is in charge of the arrangements.
She was born in Shelby, Mississippi, on August 21, 1917 to John "Zack" Malatesta and Mary Mangalardi Malatesta, and was a graduate from Shelby High School. Following her marriage to Primo Albert Carloni in 1941, they owned and operated Primo's Dry Goods Store and later Primo's Package Store. She was a devoted homemaker, as well as a successful business- woman, and will also be remembered as a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend. As one of very deep faith, she was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. After moving to Cleveland in 2004, she attended Our Lady of Victories Catholic Church. She also belonged to the Shelby's Woman's Club.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Primo Albert Carloni; and a son, Ned David Carloni, as well as her parents.
Her surviving children are Charlene Carloni Foushee and husband, William Horace Foushee, III of Jackson, MS; Peggy Carloni Chicorelli and husband, Charles Terry Chicorelli of Cleveland, MS; four grandchildren, William Horace Foushee, IV (Melisa) of Franklin, TN; Suzanne Foushee Nappier (Bert) of Memphis, TN; Mitzi Chicorelli Garrett (Troy) of Cleveland, MS; Charles Terry Chicorelli, Jr. (Amy) of Cleveland, MS; eight great-grandchildren, William Horace Foushee, V, Benjamin Joseph Foushee and Gabriella Sira Foushee of Franklin, TN; Caroline Cecilia Nappier and Zack Beers Nappier of Memphis, TN; William Charles Garrett and Eli James Garrett of Cleveland, MS; and Mary Ella Chicorelli of Cleveland, MS, as well as, three brothers and one sister.
The family wishes to extend a special thanks to all of the wonderful staff, as well as her sitters, who took such excellent care of her at Indywood. Special gratitude also goes to the caregivers at Grace Community Hospice. May God bless each and every one of you.
