Charles Edwin Turner, 84, of Cleveland, MS passed away Monday, December 24, 2018, at his home after a long illness. Visitation will be 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. Friday, December 28, 2018, at Ray Funeral Home. Celebration of Life services will immediately follow beginning at 10:00 a.m. Friday, December 28, 2018, at Ray Funeral Home. Entombment at Washington Park East Cemetery in Indianapolis, IN.
Charles was born on November 21, 1934, in Cleveland, MS to Edwin P. and Gladys C. Powell Turner. He graduated from Arsenal Technical High School; and after graduation, he entered the U. S. Army serving proudly in Germany as a 2
nd Class Gunner and Sharpshooter.
He was a proud business owner most of his life starting with Turner Appliance Service from 1961 to 1975, then Ranch Motel and Restaurant until 1995. Charles was a member of Linn Methodist Church, The American Legion #165, and he served as an active Master Mason. In his spare time, he loved the outdoors, fishing, collecting guns, and working in his shop.
Charles is preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Anita Dee Nicholas Turner; brother, Billy Arnold Turner; and son, Mark W. Davis.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley Lamb Turner of Cleveland; brother, Harold G. Turner of Indiana; son, Jeffery A. Davis (Suzanne) of Indiana; three grandsons - Chad Davis (Antoinette) and Ryan Davis (Nichole) both of Indianapolis, and Mark Davis (Amanda) of Robstown, TX; step-daughter, Judy Lamb Baldwin of Cleveland; step-grandson, Brandon Baldwin (Mary) of Leland; 8 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
