Charles "Mike" Ervin

Charles "Mike" Ervin, a beloved member of the Ruleville, MS community, passed away on May 14, 2024, at the age of 80. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.  

 He was born on December 10, 1943, to parents Paul and Elsie Matthews Ervin in Renova, MS. After graduating from high school in the Mississippi Delta, Charles pursued higher education, earning his degree, and subsequently marrying the love of his life, LaVonne Organ Ervin, on June 4, 1967.Following his marriage, Charles went on to serve in the Army during the Vietnam War from 1968 to 1970. Upon returning home, he dedicated many years of service to serving his church as a deacon along working with the youth & the elderly giving Sunday school teachings along with providing as an Operations Supervisor at the Social Security Administration. Throughout his life, Charles remained committed to his family, his community, and his country.

Charles, affectionately known as "Mike," will be remembered for his unwavering dedication to his loved ones and his strong work ethic. He is survived by his devoted wife of 57 years, LaVonne Ervin, his daughter Teri Dawn Ervin, his son Michael Todd Ervin, Brothers, John & Kenneth Ervin.

 As we gather to celebrate his life and legacy, let us remember the joy and love that Charles brought to all who knew him. May his memory continue to inspire us and his spirit live on in our hearts forever.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Paul & Elsie Matthews Ervin, sisters , Martha Lee Ervin,  Elsie Ann Ervin Bock, Gayle Larkin, and brother Paul Logan Ervin Sr.
