Charles Hudson

Charles Richard Hudson left this world to be with his Heavenly Father on October 7, 2024. He passed peacefully listening to “Amazing Grace” in Pensacola, FL. Arrangements are under the directions of Ray Funeral Home in Cleveland, MS. 

Charles was born on January 20, 1942 to Richard and Christine Hudson. 

He is survived by his two sons, Micky Hudson (wife Tracie Hudson), Chuck Hudson,his daughter Renee Lett ( husband Thomas Lett), Chuck and Renee’s mother, his step-daughters Stacy Farley and Wendy Howell, his grandchildren, Tristen Lett, Ethan Lett, Megan Hudson, Colby Atkins, Cade Farley, Peyton Farley, Jake Howell, Nathan Hartley, three great grandchildren. and his close friend Charles Strait who was like a brother to him. 

He is preceded in death by his wife Leathea Hudson, his parents Richard and Christine Hudson, and his brother John Hudson. 

Charles Hudson was an over-the-road truck driver. For most of his career, he was an owner-operator. He traveled all over the United States. His favorite route was from Oregon to Florida. In the later years of his career, he teamed up with his best friend Charles Strait and started Freedom Trucking. At Freedom Trucking, he took on the role of broker/dispatcher. Charles loved trucking and customized 18-wheelers. He said the best nights of sleep he ever had was curled up in the sleeper of one of his trucks with the motor running. 

Charles dedicated his life to Christ as an adult after a tango with a tornado while he was in one of his trucks. His CB handle was John 3:16. He took this message of Christ with him all over the United States. He was always ready to share the good news of the Lord with people he met. 

Pallbearers will be Colby Atkins, Cliff Strait, Chuck Strait,Cade Farley, Robert Grant, 

Special thanks to Donna Weiber and Gentiva Hospice for taking special care of Charles his last months. 

 Visitation will be 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. Saturday, October 12, 2024, at Ray Funeral Home in Cleveland, MS. A Celebration of Life Service will immediately follow at 1:00 p.m. Interment will be in Beulah Cemetery. David Fowler will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to come and celebrate Charles’ life.
