Mr. Charles Winfred Shoops, 93, of Holly Bluff, passed away March 20, 2014, at his home. Visitation will be held 10:00-11:00 a.m. Monday, March 24, 2014, at Ray Funeral Home. Celebration of Life Services will immediately following beginning at 11:00 am with Bro Scott Sasser officiating. Interment will be in North Cleveland Cemetery.
Mr. Shoops was born in Arkansas, on November 16, 1920, to J.B. Shoops and Faye Agnes Duvall. He married Ruth Tedder Shoops on December 24, 1942, in Hernando, MS. He proudly served in the Army during WWII and later worked in construction for over 50 years until retiring. He loved aircraft, flying and traveling.
He is survived by his daughter, Peggy S. Moody (John L.) of Holly Bluff; son, Charles "Sonny" Shoops of Holly Bluff; grandchildren, J.L. Moody (Ginger), James Richard Shoops; great-grandchildren, Haiden Shoops, Kierstyn Shoops, Jade Merritt, Colbie Merritt, Jake Anderson, Cassidy Sherman; brothers, J.W. Shoops of Jackson, and Raymond Shoops (June) of Columbus, GA.; sisters, Lelia Vanlandingham of Westpoint, and Imogene McGrew (Herbert) of Center, AL.; brother in law, Joe Sasser of Crossett, AR.; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Clay Shoops, J.L. Moody, James Shoops, Sonny Shoops, and Doug McGrew.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of your choice.
