Mr. Charles William Boyd, Sr., 76, of Holly Springs, MS passed away February 13, 2015, at Methodist Hospital in Germantown, TN. Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 18, 2015, at Ray Funeral Home. Celebration of Life Services will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, February 19, 2015, at Ray Funeral Home with Rev. Joe Sollars, Jr. and Rev. Doug Turberville officiating. Interment will be in North Cleveland Cemetery. Bro. Boyd was born in Clarksdale, MS on April 10, 1938, to Aubrey Wallace Boyd and Doris Odelle Sherron Boyd. He proudly served our country in the United States Army National Guard for 22 years as well as during Desert Storm. On May 25, 1957, he married Nancy Evelyn Goodson in Calhoun City, MS. He loved crappie fishing, and tinkering on machinery. He was retired from Bolivar County Maintence Department with over 20 years of service. A preacher of the Gospel, Bro. Boyd held many tent revivals, pastored, built and founded many churches all over the United States. He pastored Victory Heights Baptist Church for over 25 years, and was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Walls, MS. He also taught at Tristate Bible College in Walls, Mississippi and was the head of Faith Baptist Theological Seminary in Milton, Florida for two years. While working on mission fields, he traveled and ministered to those in Alaska, England, Honduras, Lichtenstein, Switzerland, and New Mexico. At his passing, he was in the process of writing three different books about his faith and relationship with God. More than anything, Bro. Boyd enjoyed reading, studying, and teaching the Word of God using the King James Bible. He is preceded in death by his parents, Aubrey Wallace Boyd and Doris Odelle Sherron Boyd; and sister, Kay Whitaker and her husband James Whitaker. Bro. Boyd is survived by his wife of 57 years, Nancy Evelyn Goodson Boyd of Holly Springs; children, Charles William Boyd, Jr. (Joyce Burrell "Missy" Boyd) of Hernando, Belinda Gail Boyd Turberville (Douglas O'Neal Turberville) of Cleveland, and Stephen Paul Boyd, Sr. of Grenada; grandchildren, Jamie Boyd Whitney (Chris) of Caledonia, Emily Boyd Williams (Mark) of Hernando, Daniel Marino Mancini of Cleveland, Jordan Zane Turberville of Cleveland, and Stephen Paul Boyd, Jr. of Brandon; great-granddaughter, Elliott Claire Whitney of Caledonia; siblings, Wallace Boyd (Betty) of Cleveland and Ann Quniton (Bill) of Cleveland; aunts, Bertie Mae Boyd of Clinton and Billie Jean Allegrezza of Shaw; and a host of nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Daniel Mancini, Jordan Turberville, Benji White, Mark Williams, Tommy Williams, Jarrod Moseley, Lane Quinton, and Neil Quinton.
