Christene Baldwin Farris

Mrs. Christene B. Farris, 97, of Cleveland, passed away Saturday, April 11, 2015, at North Sunflower Medical Center in Ruleville, MS. Visitation will be 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 15, 2015, at Ray Funeral Home. Celebration of Life services will immediately follow beginning at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 15, 2015, at Ray Funeral Home with Rev. Percy Beach officiating. Interment will follow in Delta Heights Memorial Garden Cemetery. Mrs. Farris was born in Tallahatchie County on March 11, 1918, to Robert Lindsey Baldwin and Hattie Estelle Webb Baldwin. She attended Teasdale High School. On September 21, 1935, she married James Albert (A.J.) Farris in Charleston, MS. She worked at Baxter Laboratories as an assembler and inspector, and worked at Jay's Department Store until her retirement. She loved reading her Bible, working in her flowers, crocheting and quilting. Most importantly, she enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her 5 children. She is preceded in death by her parents, Robert Lindsey Baldwin and Hattie Estelle Webb Baldwin; husband, James Albert Farris; brother, Vernon Baldwin, sister, Lucille Chasteen; and granddaughter, Terri Lopez. Mrs. Farris is survived by her daughters, Lena Jones of Coffeeville, MS, Genell Phillips (Jerry) of Cleveland, MS, and Frances McCaffrey (Kenneth) of Tuscaloosa, AL; sons, James Albert Farris, Jr. (Hattie) Of Byhalia, MS and Gene Farris of Holcomb, MS; brother, Marvin Baldwin (Jimmie) of Cleveland, MS; sister, Bea Wright of Cincinnati, OH; 15 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Randy Townsend, John Keith, Michael Phillips, Joe Phillips, Vince Harvey, Tim Farris, and Trey Goss.
