Clara Jean Pearson, a cherished member of the Gunnison community, went to be with the Lord on February 4, 2025, in Cleveland, MS.
A visitation in honor of Ms. Clara Pearson will be held Friday, February 7, 2025 from 12-1 pm at Ray Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1pm following visitation at Ray Funeral Home. A Graveside Service will proceed in the Beulah Cemetery.
Clara was born on August 17, 1934, in Covington, TN, to Charles Clifford and Willie Lee Bull. Clara was known for her indomitable spirit and love for her family and community.
After graduating from Crowder High School, Clara embarked on a journey that would shape her life forever. Alongside a close friend, Ruth, she took a bus to Memphis, never to return to Crowder. It was in Memphis that she met the love of her life, Carrol Pearson. Their union would lead them to Gunnison, MS, where Clara would become an integral part of the community she adored.
Clara dedicated 42 years of her working life to Bell South, where her commitment to her job reflected her strong work ethic. However, her true passion lay in her community involvement. Clara proudly served as an alderman for the town of Gunnison, working tirelessly to improve the lives of her neighbors and friends.
In addition to her public service, Clara had a vibrant personality. She enjoyed hunting and fishing alongside her husband, Carrol, and was an avid reader, finding joy and solace in the pages of books.
Clara is predeceased by her parents, Charles Clifford and Willie Lee Bull; loving husband, Carrol Pearson, grandson James Christopher Pearson, brothers, Richard Bull, Jimmy Bull (Helen), Clifford Bull, Curtis Bull; and sisters Georgia Brumley, Sarah Schneider, and Florence Brammer.
Clara is survived by her daughter Lisa Horn (John); son, Michael Pearson (Judy); and grandson, Peyton Pearson Horn.
The legacy Clara leaves behind is profound. Her unwavering commitment to her community and family will be remembered by all who knew her. Clara's memory will continue to live in the hearts of her family and the community she so passionately served.
