Claudia Palmer Clifton

Mrs. Claudia Palmer Clifton, 88, of Benoit, passed away Monday, July 27, 2015, at Bolivar Medical Center. Visitation will be 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. Thursday, July 30, 2015, at Ray Funeral Home. Celebration of Life Services will immediately follow beginning at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, July 30, 2015, at Ray Funeral Home with Rev. Floyd Cooper officiating. Interment will follow in Shaw Cemetery. Mrs. Clifton was born July 20, 1927, in Noxapater, MS, to Henry Conelius Palmer and Emma Leona Garrard Palmer. On November 8, 1947, she married James Robert Clifton in Cleveland, MS. She spent most of her time caring dearly for her family. She also enjoyed flower, gardening, and cooking. She is preceded in death by her parents; Henry Cornelius Palmer and Emma Leona Garrard Palmer; siblings, Mary Palmer Clifton, John D. Palmer, Vera Palmer Barlow, M. A. Palmer, Clifton Palmer, and Ruby Palmer Jennings; and grandson, Robert Grant Swales. Mrs. Clifton is survived by her husband of 67 years, James Robert Clifton of Benoit; son, Robert Dale "Bobby" Clifton of Benoit; daughter, Sherry Clifton Swales (William) of Boyle; grandchildren, Wesley Henry Clifton (Kelly Knight) of Stockton, UT, Jennifer Diane Clifton of Greensboro, NC, and Traci Swales Null (George William) of Hattiesburg; great-grandchildren, Henry Leo Clifton of Stockton, UT, and Ireland Elizabeth Null, Madelyn Rivers Null, and Rachel Cameryn Null all of Hattiesburg; siblings, Eddie Ruth "Kate" Palmer Filer (Jim) of Louisville, KY, and Franklin Palmer (Barbara) of Benoit. Pallbearers will be Travis Satterfield, James Allen Herbison, Earl Kline, Jay Clifton, James Wittington, and Warren Satterfield. Honorary pallbearers will be John Clifton, Jr., Frank Palmer, George Null, Jr., and Wesley Clifton. In Memory of Mrs. Clifton, donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, American Heart Association, or The Alzheimer's Foundation.
