Corrie Holmes McKay

Corrie Holmes McKay went to be with her Lord on Saturday, February 14, 2015. She was born to William Eugene and Georgie Patterson Holmes on June 4, 1922 in Calhoun County, Mississippi. She was the youngest of seven children. She attended school in Springhill, MS, until her family moved to Bolivar County where she continued her education at Rosedale Schools. She married Harold Perron McKay on August 31, 1941. They had one child, Freda. They moved to Memphis, TN, where Corrie worked for Kroger, until moving to Cleveland, MS, where she went to work at Baxter Travenol in Cleveland until she retired. She later moved to Florence to live with her daughter. While in Cleveland she was a regular member of Morrison Chapel Baptist Church. She later moved her membership to First Baptist Church of Richland. While at FBC Richland she was a loyal member of the JOY Sunday School class. She was proceeded in death by her parents, her brothers and sisters, her Husband, Perron, and her daughter, Freda. She is survived by her son-in-law, Gwin Hannah of Florence, MS, two Grandchildren, Melissa Hannah Kistermaker (husband, Tim) of Mooresville, NC, and Will Hannah (wife, Tammy) of Richland, MS. Five Great-Grand children: Lauren Hannah, Hannah Kistemaker, Luke Hannah, Bethany Kistemaker, and Ryan Kistemaker. She also leaves numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends. Ray Funeral Home in Cleveland is in charge of arrangements. Visitation will be held at the Funeral Home from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM on Monday, February 16, 2015, with services immediately following the visitation at the Funeral Home. Graveside services will be at Delta Heights Memorial Garden. Brother Jimmie Breland will be officiating the services.
The family wishes to thank Hospice Advantage, especially Caroline, Brittany, Cissy and Alison for their caring attention during Corrie's illness.
