Delvene Freeman

Mrs. Delvene "Dell" Smith Freeman, 88, of Cleveland, passed away Thursday, April 18, 2013, at Bolivar Medical Center. Visitation will be 1:00-2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 20, 2013, at Ray Funeral Home. Celebration of Life Services will immediately follow beginning at 2:00p.m. Saturday, April 20, 2013 at Ray Funeral Home with Dr. Mark Worsham officiaiting. Interment will follow in New Cleveland Cemetery.
Mrs. Freeman was born in Hottenwald, TN, on May 8, 1924, to Elmer H. Smith and Delphia Graham Smith. She lived in Litton just west of Shaw and attended first grade there, but graduated from Sunflower School. She spend 18 years working as a bank teller in Shuqualak, MS. She was married to Bertram Melton, Jr. for 24 years until his passing at 43 years of age. Later she married Aubrey M. Freeman and they were married fro 21 years until his passing in June of 1992. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, her family and her church.
She is survived by her children, Carl Melton (Virginia) of Benoit, Faye Bailey (Warren) of Shelby; grandchildren, Luther Bailey of Olive Branch, Carl Melton Jr. of Indianola; great grandchildren, Hailey Melton, Peyton Melton, Shelby Bailey, Casey Bailey; sisters, Dolly Williams of Cleveland; step son, John Freeman of Florence Alabama; step grandchildren, Christy Harper, Christopher Freeman, and Meredith Harper.
Pallbearers will be Luther Bailey, Carl Melton, Sidney Melton, Mike Melton, Casey Bailey, and William Lindsey.
