Mrs. Dolores Ann Avritt, 75, passed away on Sunday, September 23, 2018, in Jackson, MS. Visitation will be 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 27, 2018, at Ray Funeral Home. A Memorial Talk will follow beginning at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 27, 2018, at Ray Funeral Home with Travis Lavern Avritt, Jr. officiating. Interment will be in North Cleveland Cemetery.
Dolores was born on September 26, 1942, to Marvin and Audell Fox in Moorhead, Mississippi. On January 20, 1962, she married Charles Avritt in Shaw, Mississippi. Dolores worked as a bookkeeper for Avritt Medical and also was a librarian in the Bolivar Library system for many years. She was a fabulous cook, talented seamstress, and avid reader. In her spare time, she enjoyed studying and sharing the Bible with others, sewing, and complete cross word puzzles. Dolores took pride in being a mother to her two daughters, Memrie and Dell. Almost every afternoon when the girls returned home from school, she would have a snack prepared. Later in life, the whole family would look forward to her Sunday Roast where they shared many memories. Dolores also loved traveling with her family, she never missed a trip. She had a vibrant personality and contagious laugh. Dolores never met a stranger and would always let you know how she felt.
She is preceded in death by her parents Marvin and Audell Fox; and sisters, Janell Tarver and Janette Warren.
Dolores is survived by her husband of 57 years, Charles Avritt of Cleveland; daughters, Memrie Keith (Jeff) of Cleveland and Dell Hyde (Michael) of Cleveland; granddaughters, Megan and Claire Keith of Cleveland; great-grandchildren, Eric and Johnny Keith of Cleveland; sister, Marvin Kay Hilliard (Jim) of Leland; friends; many nieces and nephews; and a host of spiritual brothers and sisters.
Pallbearers will be Paul Martin, Eddie Forrest, Tim Fitts, Donny Keith, Roger Gross, Maylon Tompkins, Nathan Tompkins, and Marvin Carolla.
