Dorothy " Dot " Hillhouse Hunt

Dorothy "Dot" Hillhouse Hunt was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She went to be with the Lord on October 8, 2024, in Indianola, Mississippi. Visitation will be 1:00 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. Sunday, October 13, 2024, at Ray Funeral Home in Cleveland, MS. Graveside Service will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the Linn Cemetery. 

 She was born on September 12, 1939, to Lawrence and Sue Ella Hillhouse in Indianola, MS, where she would spend her life contributing to the vibrancy of both her family and the local community. She graduated from Linn High School and later attended cosmetology school. While her early years were dedicated to styling hair, she transitioned into retail and property management, owning and operating several businesses, including The Buzz Shop, Slenderizer Fitness Center, a mobile home park, and various rental properties. 

 Dot had the most pride for her family, particularly her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They came to her when they needed encouragement, a back scratch, or a shopping partner. Known for her lively personality, Dot loved shopping and enjoyed her weekly hair appointments. She also enjoyed regular outings with the “Linn Bunch”. Her warmth, humor, and presence will be profoundly missed. 

 She was preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence and Sue Ella Hillhouse, and also her daughter, Melinda Sue “Lindy” Aldridge. 

 Dot is survived by her daughter, Leann Marquis, along with her husband Michael of Florida and her son, Larry Smith of California; her sister, Robbie Sue Frazier and her husband William “Billy Jack”; as well as her cherished grandchildren: Laurie Jarolimek (Justin), Melody Matej (Adam), Melissa Harbin (Dan), Jessica Dodson (Sean), Sarah Beth Marquis (Sam), Alli Baker (Bobbie), and Morgan Marquis. She leaves behind a legacy of love and joy through her great-grandchildren: Jackson, Evan, Paige, Abigail, Oliver, Lydia, Isaiah, Sue Ella, Rose, and Jonathan. 

 Dorothy "Dot" Hillhouse Hunt will forever be remembered for her lively spirit, her love for family, and the many lives she touched with her kindness and generosity.
