Dorothy Ann Tiser, 79, passed away Wednesday, October 5, 2022, at Oxford Baptist Memorial Hospital. Graveside Service will be 3:00 p.m. Sunday, October 9, 2022, at North Cleveland Cemetery.
Dorothy was born October 30, 1942, to Aubrey Boyce Tiser and Fannie Lou Owen Tiser. She grew up near Merigold, MS, where her father was a cotton farmer. Dorothy attended and graduated from Cleveland High School in Cleveland, MS. She received a bachelor’s degree from Delta State and earned her Master’s in Guidance and Counseling from the University of Mississippi. Dorothy began her long career at Life Help Mental Health Center in 1974. She was a pioneer in developing mental health services for the residents of Mississippi. Dorothy was the guidance counselor at Greenwood High School for many years. She truly put her heart and energy into working with adolescents. Dorothy had many interests and was never bored. She was voracious reader and collected cookbooks. Dorothy was famous for her holiday dips and snacks. She loved growing flowers in myriad containers on her patio, even in the middle of the delta heat her plants always flourished. Dorothy enjoyed music of all kinds, needlework, and Ole Miss football and basketball. She loved all animals, especially her cat, Tubby. Dorothy had a givers heart and was gracious. She was smart and funny. Dorothy was competent in whatever she did in her life and was consistent friend.
Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents, Aubrey Boyce Tiser and Frannie Lou Owen Tiser; and beloved grandparents, Dr. Thomas Benjamin Owen and Nora Alice Evans Owen.
