Dovie Lavonia Blessitt

Dovie Lavonia Hood Blessitt, age 93, of Ackerman, MS passed away Wednesday, June 17, 2015 at Sanctuary Hospice House, Tupelo, MS. Dovie was born April 17, 1922 in Waco, TX to the late James Roy and Ruby Elvira Hood. Dovie was a Godly wife and mother, always taking pride in tending her household with love, prayers, and biscuits. She was a dedicated Sunday school teacher for over 15 years in the Linn Baptist Church, Linn, MS. Dovie is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Charley A. Blessitt; sister, Anna Ruth Schier; and brother, James "Buddy" Hood. Dovie is survived by a son, John A. Blessitt (Frankie) of Dallas, GA; daughters, Brenda Blessitt of Vernon, AL; Bonnie Fausnight (Deb) of Linn, MS; Sharon Kay Dendy (Ricky) of Ackerman, MS; Jan Howard of Ackerman, MS; seven grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren; and ten great great grandchildren and extended family including Alidia Hunt, Bill Johnson, and Gentiva Nursing Staff. Visitation at Linn Baptist Church Saturday, June 20, 2015 at 10 AM. Services held at 11AM with burial to follow in the Linn Baptist Church Cemetery under the direction of Ray's Funeral Home, Cleveland, MS, and officiated by Brother Artie Nute. Pall barriers are Leroy Robison, Ricky Downs, Klint Fausnight, Lester Fausnight, James Compton, and Andrew Johnson. Honorary of Keith Kendall, Jere Watridge, John Compton, and Ricky Campbell.
