William Martin "Dub" Dees, Sr. passed away on Thursday, March 21, 2019, at his home in Benoit, MS. Visitation will be 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 23, 2019, at Southside Baptist Church in Benoit, MS. A Celebration of Life Service will follow beginning at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, March 23, 2019, at Southside Baptist Church with Brother Ike Raley and Bill Lipsey officiating. Interment will be in Beulah Cemetery.
Dub was born on September 20, 1941, to John and Mamie Dees in Phillip County, Arkansas. On March 19, 1962, he married Alice Carol Smith in Benoit, MS. Dub worked in the fields as a farmer for many years before retiring to care for his wife. He was a man of God who witnessed through song, he enjoyed singing in church and also reading his Bible. Dub served as a deacon at Southside Baptist Church in Benoit, MS. He liked to spend his time being outside, always staying active whether he was hunting coons with his dogs or mowing his lawn. Dub loved spending time with his family and hosting get togethers with them all. He was known to give everything he had and never quit until the job was done.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Alice Carol Smith; parents, John and Mamie Dees; sisters, Minnie Lee Cannon and Anna Louise Corbina; and brother, Jake Dees.
Dub is survived by his sons, William Dees, Jr. (Ann), Michael Dees, and Kenny Dees (Ginger) all of Benoit; grandchildren, Nathan and Nataleigh Dees of Benoit, Chris Thorn of Oakland, CA, and Jenny Pellum (Brett) of Olive Branch; sister, Lena Mae Cupstid of CA; a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins; and his wife's beloved family.
Pallbearers will be Kenneth Taylor, Michael Taylor, Justin Smith, Brian Williamson, David Johnson, and Hubbard Stephens.
In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Southside Baptist Church in Benoit, MS.
