Mr. Earl Davis "Bobby" Barbour, 88, of Cleveland, passed away Monday, October 6, 2014 at his home. Visitation will be 10:00-10:45 a.m. Wednesday, October 8, 2014, at Ray Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow at 11:00 a.m in New Cleveland Cemetery with Rev. Tim Starnes officiating.
Mr. Barbour was born January 30, 1926, in Cleveland, MS. He was raised by his mother, Pearl Redmond and step father, Ben Redmond. On July 28, 1951 he married Mary Laurie Turner. He proudly served in the Navy and fought in WWII. He was worked as a farmer, and later retired at Massey Ferguson where he was an equipment dealer. He was a Charter Member of the Covenant Presbyterian Church where he was a Deacon. He loved sports and was inducted in the DSU Hall of Fame as All American Football Player. He also played for the Chicago Bears. He was a people person and loved his family and church family dearly.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Ben and Pearl Redmond; and wife, Mary Laurie Barbour.
Mr. Barbour is survived by his children, David Barbour, Neill Goss, Jan Waddell; grandchildren, Bo Bowlin, Beth Harryman, Taneill Barbour, Gray Barbour, Preston Waddell, Davis Waddell, Mary Laurie Adamopoulos, and Jessica Goss; great-grandchildren, John Austin Harryman, Matthew Harryman, Isaiah Barbour, Ashlynn Adamopoulos, Vincent Waddell, and Cody Bowlin.
Pallbearers will be Gray Barbour, Bo Bowlin, Cody Bowlin, Davis Waddell, Preston Waddell, and John Austin Harryman.
In Memory of Mr. Barbour, memorials may be made to the Palmer Home for Children.
