Edgar W. “Ed” Wilson, Sr., 97, of Rosedale, MS, died Sunday, December 22, 2024. A memorial service will take place on Friday, January 10, at 11:00am at Grace Episcopal Church in Rosedale, with internment following service at Beulah Cemetery.
Ed was born August 3, 1927, in Pascagoula, MS, to John Craig Wilson and Frances Johnston Wilson. He married Rebecca McInnis (Becky) of Rosedale on June 28, 1950. They made their home for many years in Rosedale where they developed lifelong friendships.
Ed had a successful career for almost fifty years in the cottonseed oil mill business as a seed buyer and as manager of mills in Rosedale and Greenville. He retired in 1995 from Archer Daniels Midland.
Ed found particular pleasure spending time outdoors - hunting, fishing, and golfing. Many evenings were spent around the campfire at Donaldson Point with family and friends telling stories and reminiscing late into the night. His real loves were his wife Becky, his Rosedale friends, and the Ole Miss Rebels.
Ed was predeceased by his wife and brothers, John Francis Wilson and William Roberts Wilson. Survivors include his son, Edgar Waller Wilson, Jr. (Pam), and daughters, Viva Lea Wilson and Martha Wilson McBee, all of Madison; six grandchildren, Rebecca Wilson Szczepanski (Michael), Edgar Wilson McBee (Amanda), Dalton McBee III (Julia Weaver), Edgar Waller Wilson III, Robert Kittrell Wilson, and Adelaide Anne Wilson; and seven great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Grace Episcopal Church, P.O. Box 126, Rosedale, MS 38769 or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
