Edward Wong Gong

Edward Wong Gong, beloved owner of Harmony FEC, passed away on August 3, 2024, in Cleveland, Mississippi. Visitation will be10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Saturday, August 24, 2024, at Harmony with a memorial service immediately following.

Eddie was born on May 18, 1951, in Queens, New York. He was a pillar of the community and touched the lives of many with his warm personality, ever-present smile, and humorous stories.

Throughout life, Eddie brought joy to countless individuals who visited Flatlanders Screen-printing and Harmony. His dedication to providing a fun and welcoming space for families and friends will always be remembered. Whether he was printing t-shirts for those in the community, offering words of encouragement to a novice bowler, or sharing a laugh with longtime patrons, Eddie's kindness knew no bounds.

In addition to his successful businesses, Eddie was a devoted husband to Vera "Penney" Gong. They were married in Helena, AR, in 1970. Their lifelong love was a source of strength and inspiration to all who knew them. 

Eddie is survived by his children: Alicia Gong McCreary (Justin) of Bixby, OK; Shane Gong Stewart (Heath) of Merigold, MS; and Geoffrey Neil Gong (Elizabeth) of Cleveland, MS. He is also survived by his sisters and brother: Elaine McKelroy of Ridgeland, MS; Elizabeth Young (Charlie) of Earl, AR; and Eckward Gong (Peggy) of Cleveland, MS.

He will always hold a special place in the hearts of his grandchildren: Corie Elizabeth Hamer, Jess Grace Hamer, Natalie Emma Gong, Grace Charlotte Stewart, Amelia Jane Gong, and Ryan Kenneth Gong, and his nieces and nephew: Chelsey Lewandowski (Joey) of Altus, OK; Chandler Young of Earl, AR; Colby Young of Earl, AR; Jordan Gong of Auburn, AL, and Justin Gong of Cleveland, MS, and great nieces and nephew.

The legacy of Edward Gong will live on through the memories he created and the impact he had on those around him. He will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. May he rest in peace.
