Edwin Givens

Mr. Edwin "Eddie" "Snake" Givens, 75 of Ruleville, MS went to be with the Lord on January 25, 2021. A visitation will be held 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 29, 2021 at Ray Funeral Home in Cleveland, MS. A graveside will immediately follow at Lehrton Cemetery in Ruleville, MS.
Eddie was born February 20, 1945 to Otis and Erma Dell Givens. He grew up in Ruleville and graduated from Ruleville High School. Eddie was a member of Ruleville Baptist Church. He was a "true Rulevillian". He was a people's person who enjoyed taking road trips and was a great storyteller. He loved Ole Miss, but most of all he loved his children and grandchildren.
He is preceded by his wife, Carolyn Mitchell Givens; parents, Otis and Erma Dell Givens; sister, Linda Kay Givens Hill.
Eddie is survived by his daughters, Shawn Layman (Robert) of Cleveland MS and Leigh Givens Steadham (Seth) of Hernando, MS; grandchildren, Walker Steadham and Ella Steadham; brothers-in-law's, Dan Hill and Aubrey Mitchell; niece, Dana Hill Kurts (Greg); great niece Grace Kurts; and cousin, Barbara Messer of GA. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the American Cancer Society.
