Edwin Tullos

Edwin Noel Tullos (48) of Maryville, TN, died July 23, 2023, of a heart attack while swimming. A celebration of his life will be held Saturday, August 5, 2023, at First United Methodist Church, Cleveland, MS. Visitation will be in the church sanctuary at 1:00 with the service following at 2:00. Burial will be in New Cleveland Cemetery.

Edwin was born to Margaret H. Tullos and Willoughby Thomas “Bo” Tullos III on February 6, 1975. He grew up on the family farm near Pace, MS and was an Eagle Scout, a member of The Order of the Arrow, and a member of the United Methodist Church. Edwin received a BS degree with a major in chemistry from Delta State University. He was employed by Shimadzu Scientific Instruments for over twenty-one years with his most recent position being Senior Service Specialist Physical Measurements. He loved the problem-solving nature of his job and the work-related travel. Even though he flew or drove thousands of miles a year all over the U.S., the only accident he was in involved a bear running out in front of him—in the panhandle of Florida. Edwin had many interests and hobbies. He liked tinkering with old cars and was an avid outdoors enthusiast enjoying hiking, biking, cross country skiing, skating, snorkeling, and scuba diving. A talented photographer, he had an eye for catching animals hidden by their natural camouflage. Edwin will especially be remembered for his quirky, delightful sense of humor.

Edwin was predeceased by his father in 1988, and is survived by his mother, Margaret H. Tullos of Boyle, MS; brother, Willoughby Thomas “Will” Tullos IV; sister-in-law, Gina Tullos; and two step-nieces: Victoria Johnson and Alexandria Johnson. Will and family live in Springfield, MO. Edwin is also survived by aunts Frances H. Williams of Ridgeland, MS; Mary Alice H. Raley of Belzoni, MS; Vicki Tullos Meredith of Tucson, AZ; uncle James Noel “Jim” Hinson Jr. (Colette) of Ft. Myers, FL; and a number of cousins.
