Wife of the late William J Meadows (Bill), daughter of the late John Wesley and Lou Docia (Burks) Burchfield, was born in Ethel, MS. She and her five siblings moved to Indianola, MS. with her parents just before the flood of 1927.
Later Effie farmed with her father near Clarksdale, MS, married, and moved to Drew , where her husband had a rolling store, and she ran their grocery during WWII while her Bill was in the service. She and her husband stated Delta Cookie Company as distributors.
While living in Drew, Effie was a member of Drew Baptist Church, OES, and the Senior Citizens Group at Drew Baptist Church. Her hobbies included gardening, canning, and most of all fishing.
She has lived in Lafayette, LA. Since 2003 at Camelot Assisted Living and was a member of First Baptist Church of Lafayette.
Effie leaves one son, Jim Meadows (Flo Guidry), One daughter Billie Hall (Jack) three granddaughters, Crew Schuster (Don), Melissa Hyatt (Jeff), Mickie Meadows Hughes, four great-grandchildren, Max and Morgan Hyatt, Molli, and Ben Hughes.
Her family would like to thank all her extended family, Dr. Ronald Jenkins, and care givers at Camelot of Broussard, and Hospice of Acadiana as well as her many friends in Drew.
Services: A Grave side service will be held at The Drew Cemetery, Drew MS.
