Elizabeth Sue Rayner Latham

Mrs. Latham was born February 16, 1927, to Edgar Dewitt Rayner and Sue Elizabeth Field Rayner. She was Valedictorian of Merigold High school graduating class of 1944, and continues her education by graduating from Randolph Macon College where she was also a member of Chi Omega Sorority. On October 6, 1973, she married William Wyatt "Billy" Latham.
She served on the board of directors at Flowers manor in Clarksdale in Clarksdale, MS; was a member Farm Bureau; was the treasurer, pianist, and organist for Merigold Methodist Church; was the business manager of South Wiggins Gin; was an election official in Merigold; and was the Business Manager of Rayner Farms . In attrition to her community involvement, she loved to make cross stitched baby quilts and she felt that every new baby needed one of her Christmas stockings. She also enjoyed needle point and made many pillows, chair bottoms, and many got to enjoy her beautiful creations. She is preceded in death by her parents, Edgar Dewitt Rayner and Sue Elizabeth Field Rayner; and husband, William Wyatt "Billy" Latham. Mrs. Latham is survived by her sister, Carolyn R. "Cack" Meyer of Merigold; nephews, Dr. Jon R. Meyer (Dr. Cindy Allen) of Merigold/Jackson; Jim Field Meyer (Mitsi) of Merigold; and Edgar Meyer (Louise) of Merigold/Cleveland; Niece, Susan Meyer Anderson (Douglas) of Virginia; and a host of great-nephews and great-nieces.
