Elnora (Nora) Ferretti Cocilova
Elnora (Nora) Ferretti Cocilova of Bethalto, IL formerly from Shaw, MS passed away Friday, January 3, 2014 at her home.
She was born on February 22, 1921 to Constantino and Amelia Ferretti. On February 12, 1945 she married Elio Cocilova in Shaw MS. Nora was an avid gardener, and her love of flowers showed in her yard as well as her home. She also took pride in her vegetable garden that she and Elio tended every year. After moving to Bethalto, IL from Shaw she lived at Villa Rose Senior Living. She made many new friends there, especially the puzzle ladies, Juanita, Alice, and Lydia with whom she worked to help put puzzles together. With her sweet Southern charm and accent she acquired the title of "Miss Mississippi" by the residents.
The Visitation will be held from 6:00-7:00 p.m., Sunday, January 5, 2014, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church with the Rosary immediately following the Visitation. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, January 6, 2014 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, with Father Thomas Mullally officiating.
She is preceded in death by Elio Cocilova her husband of 57 years, parents, Constantino and Amelia Ferretti, her three sisters Mary Bastari, Zela Cuicchi, and Bea Fava, three brothers Chris Ferretti, Sago Ferretti and Vince Ferretti.
Surviving are daughter, Emily Hollinger (Joseph) Godfrey, IL, sons, David Cocilova (Linda)of Wiggins, MS and Richard Cocilova (Gloria) of Abingdon, Va, Grandchildren, Jay Hollinger, Tony Hollinger (Lisa), Bret Hollinger (Jamie), Elizabeth Hale (Justin), Brad Cocilova (Amber), Lisa Tice (Chad) and Jason Cocilova, great-grandchildren, Pierce Naylor, Olivia Hollinger and Anthony Hollinger, Elena Hollinger, Mason Hale, and Hensley Cocilova.
Pallbearers are Jay Hollinger, Tony Hollinger, Bret Hollinger Brad Cocilova, Jason Cocilova, and Tim Conico. Honorary pall bearers are George Bastari and Chris Bastari.
In memory of Nora, memorials may be made to St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Shaw MS. or to the charity of your choice.
