Emma Jean Thompson, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, October 6, 2024, at the age of 92. No Service will be held.
Emma Jean was born on November 28, 1931, to Oscar and Ethie Hinchey in Micola, Missouri. Before beginning her career, she handpicked cotton until the age of 18. Emma enjoyed a distinguished career, serving as the CEO of Medical Park Family Group and Primary Care Associates, where she made significant contributions to the healthcare sector from 1960 to 1991. She also worked as an Office Manager and Accountant for Coopwood Publishing from 1991 to 2022, showcasing her exceptional skills in management and finance and she also managed Bill’s Custom Automatics during this time.
A proud graduate of high school, Emma dedicated herself not only to her professional pursuits but also to her faith. She was an active member of the Belleview Baptist Church and later became part of the Merigold community, where she cherished her spiritual life and the friendships she fostered there. She was the music director at Belleview and sang in the choir for over fifty years.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Ethie Hinchey; son, Larry Dean Cole; brothers, Max and Rayburn Hinchey; sisters, Betty Jo Ballard (Jerry) and Maxine Franklin (Howard).
Emma is survived by her husband, William Lloyd Thompson; two sons, Tim Thompson and his wife Melissa of Cleveland, MS, and Dale Wayne Cole and his wife Brenda of Anchorage, AK. She took great joy in her role as a grandmother, leaving behind a legacy of love through her grandchildren: William Hunter Thompson, Dane Cole, Joli Luna (Kenneth), Michael Cole (Jen), Brian Cole, Sara Elixson, Julian Rocconi (Shelby), John Douglas Estes III; great-grandchildren, Audrey Rocconi, Zulai Cole, Natalia Gomez, Kaitlynn Lulay, Addison Paeth, Sterlynn Luna, Alicia Hall, Katelyn Alexander, Alexander Cole, Jonathan Cole, and Tristan, who is on the way.
Emma is also survived by her sister-in-law, Peggy Hinchey and daughter-in-law, Debra Cole.
Emma Jean Thompson will be remembered for her love of family, her dedication to her work, "her faith alone, in Christ alone." Her presence will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
