Emmitt Ray 'Ray' Russell

Mr. Emmitt Ray Russell, 51, of Merigold, passed away Monday, August 17, 2015, at his home. Visitation will be 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Monday, August 24, 2015, at Ray Funeral Home. Memorial services will immediately follow beginning at 2:00 p.m. Monday, August 24, 2015, at Ray Funeral Home. Mr. Russell was born on October 3, 1963, in Cleveland, MS, to Emmitt Russell and Shirley Arbuckle Russell. On February 3, 1998, he married Mary Theresa Patterson. He loved to hunt, fish, garden, and cook. He volunteered his time often doing mission work for Church of Jesus in Skene. He is preceded in death by his sisters, Shirley Faye Akridge and Lil Hopkins. He passed away along with his father, Emmett Russell and his wife, Theresa Patterson Russell. Mr. Russell is survived by his mother, Shirley Arbuckle Russell of Merigold; sisters, Sally Williams (Mike) of Southaven, MS and Dorothy R. Warren (Robert K.) of Merigold; uncle, Clarence Russell (Mildred) of Pelahatchie, MS; and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Honorary pallbearers will be Christopher Weeks, Jeremy Williams, Michael Williams, and Dallas Lane. In memory of Mr. Russell, donations may be made to the Bolivar County Sherriff's Office.
