Ernestine McKnight Hooper, 90, of Cleveland went to be with the Lord Friday, October 29, 2021. A visitation will be held from 1:00 -2:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 2, 2021, at Ray Funeral Home in Cleveland, MS. A Graveside Service will follow at New Cleveland Cemetery at 2:15 p.m. Ernestine was born October 21, 1931, to Earl and Clara McKnight in Cleveland, MS. She married Claude Dick Hooper in July 1951 in Cleveland, MS. They were married 68 years before his passing in 2013. She worked at the Bank of Cleveland (Sunburst) for over 26 years. She was a member of Morrison Chapel Baptist Church where she was a Sunday School Teacher. Ernestine was an avid reader. She also enjoyed painting, bowling, and camping. Most of all, Ernestine loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is predeceased by her parents, Earl and Clara McKnight; husband, Claude Dick Hooper; son, Charles E Hooper; sister, Frances (Earline) McKnight Scruggs.
Ernestine is survived by her daughter, Sheryl Hooper Stephens; granddaughter, Ginger Michele Vinson (Forrest); grandsons, John William Ray (Holly) and John William Lovett (Summer); sister, Anita McKnight Cummings; brother, Harold Loyd McKnight; great grandchildren, Lyndsi Naron, Lanie Naron, Frances Vinson, Lexie Lovett, and Swayde Lovett.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the American Cancer Society and Alzheimer's Association.
