Mrs. Fontain Vowell Banks, 87, of Shaw, MS passed away Thursday, December 9, 2010 at North Sunflower Medical Center. Funeral services will be Monday, December 13, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at Ray Funeral Home with Rev. Howard Haar officiating. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 13, 2010 at Ray Funeral Home. Burial will be in Mars Hill Cemetery in Kosciusko, MS
Mrs. Banks was born March 4, 1923 to James L Vowell and Nora Bennett in Winston County, MS. She married Garlon Banks December 24, 1939 in Linn, MS.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Garlon Banks; parents, James and Nora Vowell; brothers, Ted Vowell, Theobry Vowell, Thorton Vowell, and Theolen Vowell; and two sisters, Pearl Vowell Buckley and Jimmie Lee Williams.
Mrs. Banks is survived by her sons, Garlon Banks and wife Jeannie of Temecula, CA; daughters, Donna Jean Banks of Grenada, MS, Rita Horton of Heber Springs, AR, Terry Lynn McCarty of Leakesville, MS; and 15 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
