Mrs. Frances Elizabeth Felts Hinson, 104 years of age, died November 29, 2014, at her home in Boyle. Funeral services will be conducted at Valley Hill United Methodist Church, in Carroll County, at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 2, 2014. Visitation will be held at the church from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. prior to the service, with burial in Evergreen Cemetery in North Carrollton. Ray Funeral Home of Cleveland is in charge.
Mrs. Hinson was born to William David Felts and Ara Durham Felts, in Nowata, Oklahoma, and moved with her family to Carroll County, MS, when she was seven years old. She graduated from Delta State University with a major in public school music education. In 1937, she married Rev. James Noel Hinson, a United Methodist minister, and they lived in Belmont, Blue Mountain, Tupelo, Pickens, Macon, Charleston, Sardis, Aberdeen, Columbus, Ackerman, Holly Springs, and Carroll County, MS. She made a significant contribution to their ministry through establishing and directing choirs, especially children's groups.
Mrs. Hinson was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. James Noel Hinson; a grandson, David Tipton Williams; and a granddaughter, Amy Lynn Hinson. She is survived by her three daughters and one son: Frances H. Williams (spouse, Jerry Williams) of Lena, Margaret H. Tullos of Boyle, Mary Alice H. Raley of Belzoni, and James Noel Hinson (spouse, Collette Hinson) of Ft. Myers, FL; eight grandchildren, Elizabeth W. Kean (spouse, Steven Kean) of Brandon, Sybyl W. Stringer (spouse, Joe Stringer) of Madison, Will Tullos (spouse, Gina Tullos) of Aurora, MO, Edwin Tullos of Columbia, MD, Michael Raley of Atlanta, GA, David Raley of Gray, GA, Bryan Hinson (spouse, Alison Hinson) of Roseburg, OR, and Mark Davidson of Los Angeles, CA; and eleven great-grandchildren.
