Mr. Fred Herard, died, Thursday, July 15, 2010 at the Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford, MS. He had been a resident of the Mississippi Veteranâs Home since October, 2009. Graveside services will be held at the Leland-Stonville Cemetery on Old Leland Road between Leland and Greenville on Saturday, July 17, 2010 at 4:00 in the evening.
Mr. Herard was born June 18, 1927, in Webster County, Mississippi to Joseph Celeste Herard and Callie Modena Orr Herard. He moved to Darlove, MS as a child and was educated at Arcola School. He was affiliated with the Baptist religion. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a machinist aboard the William Nott Ship stationed in the Philippines. He also graduated from the United States Maritime Service Training Station in Sheepshead Bay, New York. He was retired from Libbey Glass, Inc. in Shreveport, LA where he worked as a machinist. He loved his animals and had a caring heart for all people.
He is preceded in death by his brothers, Purvie Lee Lisenby of Texas, James Earl Lisenby of Modesto, CA, Herbert Lisenby of Springfield, OR, and Neville Herard of Oregon; sisters, Carrie Lou Lisenby McCaskill of Cottage Grove, OR, and Vassie Lisenby Gentry of Greenville, MS.
Survivors include, sister-in-law, Bea Lisenby of Springfield, OR, seven nieces, four nephews all of California and Oregon. He also leaves his caregiver, Gene and Susan Sims McCreary of Cleveland, MS
