Freddie Gene Avritt, a cherished member of his community and devoted family man, passed away on February 3, 2025, in Cleveland, Mississippi, at the age of 88. A Visitation will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, February 22, 2025, with a Memorial Service to follow at 2:00 p.m. at the Cleveland Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, Hwy 61 North in Cleveland, MS.
Freddie was born on May 18, 1936, in Stringtown, Mississippi, to John Henry and Loueva Avritt. Freddie's life was marked by unwavering dedication to his faith and family.
As a minister at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, Freddie served his congregation with passion and commitment. He often shared his wisdom and insights at conventions, where his easy-going nature made him a beloved speaker. Freddie's contributions went beyond speaking at the Kingdom Hall; he took great pride in working on the construction and remodeling of Kingdom Halls, a testament to his dedication to his faith and community.
In addition to his spiritual endeavors, Freddie was also a farmer, nurturing the land and cultivating crops. He was known for his love of collecting toy tractors, a hobby that brought him immense joy and connected him to his agricultural roots.
Freddie was a high school graduate who carried a wealth of knowledge and life experiences that he shared generously with those around him. His approachable demeanor and gentle spirit made him a confident husband, father, grandfather, and friend to many.
He was predeceased by his parents, John Henry and Loueva Avritt; son, Ronald Joe Avritt; brother Travis Avritt Sr.; sister, Johnnie Martin; and granddaughter, Amy Leigh Avritt. These family members will undoubtedly be welcomed with him in resurrection to eternal life on earth.
Freddie is survived by his beloved wife, Jo Riley Avritt; son, Walter Eugene Avritt (Diana); daughter, Melinda Jennings (Dale); brother, Charles Avritt; and granddaughter, Amanda Avritt Brennan; great grandchildren, Kamdyn and Keaton Brennan and Jax Avritt. Each of them will forever cherish the memories of a remarkable man who impacted their lives in profound ways.
Freddie Gene Avritt leaves behind a legacy of faith, love, and community service that will not be forgotten. His spirit continues to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know him.
