George Michael "Tiny/Mike" Templeton, 62, of Shaw, passed away Tuesday, March 25, 20104, at Ochsner Hospital in New Orleans. Visitation will be 9:00-11:00 a.m. Friday, March 28, 2014, at Ray Funeral Home. Celebration of Life services will immediately follow beginning at 11:00 a.m. at Ray Funeral Home with Rev. Tim McCarter officiating. Interment will be in North Cleveland Cemetery.
Mr. Templeton was born February 11, 1952, to Terry Homer Templeton and Lois Ethel Wimberley Templeton in Missouri. Mike graduated from Shaw High School in 1970, and attended Mississippi State University and returned to Delta State University where he graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration. Mike attended the Cleveland Church of Christ until he moved to Bay St. Louis, MS in 2010 where he was his son, Michael's, caregiver. He worked many years in the parts business and owned and operated Affordale Parts in Shaw, MS. He loved reading books, talking about cars, and searching for Indian artifacts. For the past year, he has been cared for with love by his family in Poplarville, MS. In his passing, Mr. Templeton chose to donate certain tissues for research in order to give back to those who so graciously gave to the ones he loved.
He is preceded in death by his parents; Terry and Lois Templeton; and a sister, Debbie Templeton McCool.
Mr. Templeton is survived by his son, George Michael Templeton, Jr. of Poplarville; brother, Terry Glenn Templeton of Shaw; 2 nieces, Gina McCool Jones of Linn and Jamie McCool of Cleveland; and 2 great-nephews, Wyatt and Levi Jones of Linn.
Pallbearers will be Carlton Edmonson, Trey Edmonson, Carlis Lyons, Keith Jones, Dennis Short, and Dennis Burrell. Honorary pallbearers Joe Garrison , Johnny Moore, Adolf Mosco, Bob Walters, and Timmy Mills.
In memory of Mr. Templeton, donations may be made to Ochsner Hospital Transplant Center and/or to The COPD Foundation.
